Onleihe - Lesenswert
About the project
Onleihe is the Goethe-Institut’s German-language eLibrary, giving residents outside Germany access to more than 35,000 books, audiobooks, films, magazines, newspapers, and language-learning resources.
To promote the service, the DigiLab team launched Lesenswert (“worth reading”), a weekly social media and newsletter series featuring curated selections of German-language books organised by theme or genre. The project formed part of DigiLab’s wider remit to produce digital projects and content across Northwest Europe.
Project responsibilities:
Communications and digital content production
In January 2021, I was promoted to the Goethe-Institut’s DigiLab team. As one of four members, I played a pivotal role in the production of the Lesenswert project, from concept through to distribution. In weekly meetings, I provided suggestions and feedback on curated reading lists and graphic design elements for social media posts.
As the only native English speaker in the team, I was responsible for translating, editing, and proofreading English-language content for all digital platforms. I also utilised our custom CMS and integrated CRM tools to produce the Goethe-Institut UK’s Onleihe website and newsletters.
In addition, I managed communications tasks, including preparing and distributing social media packs internally to the regional Communications teams, and publishing content on the Goethe-Institut London’s accounts.
