Studio Quantum
Studio Quantum is an international artist-in-residence programme from the Goethe-Institut that explores emerging quantum technologies through the lens of art. Alongside residencies, the accompanying event series addressed ethical and ecological questions surrounding the impact of quantum technologies. By connecting artists and audiences with partners from technology, culture, science, and education, the programme fostered an open dialogue on the intersections of quantum research and artistic practice.
The project was built on the success of Living in a Quantum State, which engaged audiences across Dublin, Berlin, London, Beijing, and San Francisco in conversations about the societal and cultural implications of quantum technologies.
About the project
As manager of the Goethe-Institut UK’s website, social media channels, editorial content, and budgets, I contributed from the early planning stages of Studio Quantum, which began as a collaboration between the London and Dublin offices. In October 2022, I was requested to produce and host a special Talking Culture podcast episode that introduced audiences to the project and art forms where quantum technologies were being implemented.
As the project evolved, my responsibilities included managing communications, editorial budgets, and digital content production. I commissioned and processed payments for editorial content, developed and maintained event and landing pages using the Institut’s custom-built CMS, and curated a dedicated YouTube playlist to publish and promote video content.
I also designed and implemented digital strategies across social media, creating content and managing paid promotions via Meta Business Suite to maximise audience reach. I also translated and proofread all English-language materials to ensure clarity and accessibility for international audiences.

What exactly is a quantum computer, and how might quantum technologies impact our everyday lives? In October 2022, I produced and hosted a Talking Culture episode that unpacked the media hype surrounding quantum computing and explored its societal and cultural implications.
Composer and AI scientist, Eduardo Reck Miranda, quantum expert, Emily Haworth, and researcher and cultural programmer, Lucy Rose Sollitt, were invited to draw on their expertise in neuro-technology, sustainable quantum innovation, and art and technology, respectively, to examine the intersections between quantum technologies and the arts, and to reflect on the broader implications of emerging quantum research.
The episode formed part of the Goethe-Institut’s international project Living in a Quantum State, which addressed these questions through events in London, Dublin, Beijing, and San Francisco. Together, we considered the role of civil society in shaping emerging technologies and how the arts can help make sense of profound scientific developments.
